Principal's Message

Dear El Dorado Families & Staff,

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself.  I am Alejandra Febles and I’m a proud product of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Growing up, I was an English Language Learner, living in a high-poverty area.  With hard-working parents and competent, caring teachers I was the first in my family to graduate from a university. When I look at my students, talk to the parents, I see myself, and I see my parents: working-class families who want the best for their children, including a quality education. My educational philosophy is centered around providing a safe learning environment where children are held to high expectations.  My vision is one of collaboration where parents, students, teachers, ad administration work together to provide the greatest opportunities for success to our students.

For the past 25 years, I have dedicated myself to working primarily with English Learners in the San Fernando Valley, mainly with families very similar to those of the El Dorado Community. Throughout my 25 years with the District, I have served in a variety of leadership capacities in both middle and elementary schools that have prepared me to be principal.  I have been a Coordinator, Instructional Coach, and Assistant Principal.  Most notably, I am a teacher at heart and I have great respect for the challenges and the rewards that teachers face every day in the classroom.

I have heard so much about the excellent teaching, daily practices, and programs that you have been working on at El Dorado Elementary. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with you as a member of the community. I want to support the great instruction that is already happening and I want to hear from you about ways we can work collaboratively to continue the work of providing the best possible education for our students to grow and learn.

Student success is undoubtedly tied to caring and competent teachers but cannot happen without the meaningful involvement of parents. Thus, a strong partnership between the home and school is essential. Moreover, parental presence celebrates the cultural diversity of our students and strengthens the school community.  I want to continue to build bridges between the community, home, and school so that we can provide a rich educational experience for our students. I am looking forward to a wonderful experience this year as well as meeting all of the students, staff, and parents that make up our El Dorado family.

Again, as the new principal at El Dorado, I’m beyond grateful and honored at the opportunity to partner with you to continue to provide our students with a safe, rigorous, high-quality education.  I am anticipating a successful and rewarding rest of the year.

Please stop by and introduce yourself over the next few weeks.  I look forward to meeting and working with all of you.

Sincerely,

Ms. Febles,

Principal
