Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!
It is with great excitement and pride that we introduce the El Dorado Avenue Elementary Special Education Team, which works together in a collaborative effort to help students with special needs reach their goals in academic, physical/motor, social/emotional, and behavioral areas in the Least Restrictive Environment. At El Dorado Avenue Elementary School, we provide special education services to students from preschool age through 5th grade who have identified with one of the state and federal defined special education eligibility. Our staff and families work together to develop an Individualized Education program (IEP) which guides service delivery for each student. Related services like Language and Speech, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Adapted PE, and Deaf and Hard of Hearing are some of the support services El Dorado IEP team provides to support students with special needs in addition to academic support. Each student’s IEP team determines appropriate related services to assist students with special needs to access their curriculum in their learning environment and make appropriate progress. We value parents’ involvement and encourage our parents and families to participate in their student’s educational process and IEP meetings. We provide Special Education Parent Workshops to help our parents and guardians learn how to help your child to be successful at school. Parents and guardians can also attend parents workshops provided by the Division of Special Education, LAUSD. LAUSD provides 12 sessions of Parent Counseling and Training to parents each school year in order to provide parents with information regarding your student’s disability, child development and how to implement your child IEP.
